Common Concerns

Questions sellers ask before their first auction

Real answers to real hesitation.

Concern

"I don't have time to photograph everything."

You don't need professional photos — phone photos work. The lot builder is designed for speed, and our AI description tool helps you write copy from short notes. Most sellers complete 10–15 lots in an afternoon.

Concern

"What if items don't sell?"

There are no listing fees, so unsold items cost you nothing. We start lots at $1 — low starting prices drive more bidders and often produce higher final results than high starting prices.

Concern

"I don't want strangers coming to my address."

Buyers only see your full address after payment is confirmed. Before that, they see only the general pickup area. You control the pickup window — and payment is collected before anyone shows up.

Concern

"What if I only have a few items?"

Even small auctions work well. A 5-lot auction is fine. If your items have individual value, they deserve individual bids. There's no minimum lot count.

Concern

"How do I know what I'll actually receive?"

The platform fee is a fixed percentage of the hammer price — disclosed in your seller agreement before you submit. No variable fees, no surprise deductions, no hidden costs. Your payout is hammer price minus that one fee.

Concern

"I'm not tech-savvy — is this hard to use?"

The lot builder was designed with non-technical users in mind. If you can upload a photo to Facebook, you can build a lot. And our team is available to guide you through your first auction.

Marketplace Participation

Seller FAQ

Before you get started

More detailed answers are in the full Seller FAQ.

What kinds of items can I sell?
Estate furniture, art, jewelry, silverware, collectibles, antiques, vintage items, household contents, commercial fixtures, and equipment. If it has value and someone can pick it up, it's a candidate. Contact the Advantage team if you're unsure about a specific item category.
How long does it take from signup to live auction?
Seller accounts are reviewed within one business day. Once approved, you can start building lots immediately. Most sellers complete their lot submissions within a few days. Advantage reviews and publishes your auction — that typically takes 1–2 business days from your final submission.
Do I need to ship items to buyers?
No. Advantage.Bid is a pickup-based platform. Buyers come to your location. You set the pickup window, and the full address is only revealed to buyers after payment is confirmed. Shipping may be available for certain auction types by arrangement.
Can I set a minimum price for my items?
By default, all lots start at $1 with no reserve. This approach consistently produces the most competition and often results in higher final bids than high starting prices. If your situation requires reserve pricing, discuss it with the Advantage team during onboarding.
What happens to items that don't sell?
Lots that receive zero bids are returned to you. There's no charge — no listing fee, no penalty. Items that receive bids close at the highest bid, regardless of how low.
When and how do I receive payment?
Your payout is released after winning buyers complete payment. You receive a payout statement with full itemized detail for every lot. The exact payout timeline is documented in your seller agreement.
Can I edit my lot listings after submitting?
Yes — during the drafting phase, you have full edit access. When you submit your auction for final review, your seller edit access locks. After that point, changes go through the Advantage team. This ensures buyer-facing information stays consistent and reliable.
